TO LOVE LIKE THIS…

I am a woman of few words, but

Words don't suffice in capturing  how much I love you, so

I pray my actions will never tell a lie.

How my eyes gaze upon you in admiration

as you move about a room

And when watching you do something you enjoy.

How I notice the face you make when you're focused,

And exactly when to bring you your coffee.

Equal parts cream and coffee, light sugar, boldly brewed.

Or when my ears hang on to every detail

of every phrase from your lips

Never wanting to miss a thing, for your voice is my favorite melody

And I could listen to the way you tell stories all day. Animated and expressive, oh how i adore who you are.

My hands express how much I love you with every hug,

And every reassuring caress.

It’s in the way they  reach for you

when you’ve been away or pull closer to you as we dream.

My love is in the way I cook; feel it fully in every bite,

Made with love, passed down by abuela, tia, y mami.

It’s in the way I tend to you when you’re not feeling well,

Or hold you close to my heart when the path gets rocky.

For love can be uncomfortable, but discomfort lasts only a moment

Cus I’d choose you in every storm.

I am a woman of few words, and  I pray my actions

Always show you that I love you more each passing day.

Because to love like this, to me…

 is like breathing.
